Union Capital Boston, founded in 2012, is an approach to overcome the poverty trap for individuals, families, and communities. UCB builds and mobilizes low-income communities by combining an easy-to-use website and financial rewards to encourage its members to attend education, finance, health, and community events.
Nearly one-quarter of Boston residents live in poverty; over sixty percent of Boston’s female head-of-households with young children live in poverty; Boston’s Black and Latino residents earn 2/3 of the average Bostonian’s income.
Countless Boston-based community organizations work everyday to overcome this challenges, but they often work in isolation. Union Capital Boston connects the individuals to the resources and organizations working hard to propel them forward.
